Black Bean Brownie Bites: The Fudgy, Fibre-Packed Treat You Need in Your Life

If you’ve been craving something chocolatey, decadent, and still aligned with your wellness goals… these Black Bean Brownie Bites are about to become your new favourite snack.

I know, black beans in brownies sounds a little wild at first.
But trust me… once you try them, you’ll understand why these are a staple in my kitchen. They’re moist, rich, fudge-like, naturally sweetened, and sneak in extra fibre, protein, and minerals without anyone knowing. Even the kids love them!

Whether you need a quick lunchbox treat, a satisfying afternoon pick-me-up, or a dessert that won’t spike your blood sugar the way traditional brownies do, these little bites check every box.

Why I Love These Brownie Bites

✔ Naturally sweetened with coconut sugar
✔ Packed with plant-based protein & fibre
✔ Gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free
✔ Freezer-friendly for batch prep
✔ Blender recipe = minimal mess
✔ Kid-approved (no one guesses the beans!)

When you’re focusing on nourishing your gut, balancing blood sugar, or reducing inflammation, having healthier treats on hand is everything. These brownies feel indulgent but leave your body feeling good.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds

  • 3 tbsp water

  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained & rinsed

  • ¾ cup coconut sugar

  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

  • ¼ cup coconut oil, melted

  • ⅓ cup cacao powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp sea salt

How to Make Them

Step 1: Prepare your flax “egg”

Mix the ground flaxseeds with the water and let sit a few minutes until thick and gelatinous. This helps bind the batter naturally — no actual eggs needed!

Step 2: Blend everything together

Add the black beans, coconut sugar, chocolate chips, melted coconut oil, cacao powder, flax mixture, baking powder, and sea salt into a blender.
Blend on low for about 2 minutes, until you have a smooth, chocolatey batter.

Step 3: Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F and get out a silicone mini muffin tray (silicone is key — they pop right out!).
Scoop about 1 tbsp of batter into each muffin cup, filling halfway.

Bake for 25 minutes, then let them cool completely before removing from the tray.

Step 4: Store & enjoy

These freeze beautifully! Store in the freezer for up to a week… though honestly, in my house they don’t usually last that long.

Enjoy the Treat and the Nourishment

Healthy eating shouldn’t feel restrictive! it should feel creative, delicious, and supportive to your body. These brownie bites are such a perfect example of how whole foods can satisfy cravings while still giving your body what it needs.

If you make them, send me a message! I love hearing how these recipes support your wellness journey.

Happy baking,
