Back to school = Back to self-care

Happy back to school everybody!

I’m so glad to be back and provide you with fresh new content that optimizes your overall health and  well-being!!!

This week, as we enter a new school year, I’d like to talk to you about self-care habits that best support your wellbeing!

I’m sure, this time of year can be bittersweet. I know part of me misses the vacation vibes, but another part of me craves the routine. The thing about a routine is that it provides structure.  Believe it or not we all crave structure because it gives us a sense of safety in our nervous system.

What I love most about my routine is the self-care habits that best support my state of mental health! I find I’m the best version of myself when I do these three things that enhance my state of well-being. These three things are;.

-1 Developing a morning routine to set a positive tone to your day! Starting your days with some form of exercise boosts your feel good neurotransmitters (endorphins) that puts you in a good mood. It doesn’t have to be long or intense workout. It can be as simple as a fast pace walk for 20 minutes.

-2 Did you know when you first wake up, you’re in a state called Alpha? Alpha is one of the primary brain wave state for focus,  learning, creativity and absorbing information. If you grab your phone first thing in the morning, it takes you out of the alpha state and trains your mind to be distracted and reactive throughout the rest of your day. If you want to enhance your sense of creativity and focus I invite you to not touch your phone the first hour of the day. Instead, use this time to journal,  and/or plan out your day and/or visualize your ideal future!.  (5-10 minutes)

-3 Create a mid afternoon check-in with 3 small wins that happen throughout your day!

You see, our mind is designed to keep us safe. It is not designed to make us happy. That’s our job by creating this small habit to check in with ourselves and focus on what’s going great or what you’re grateful for. Because whatever you focus on, expands. You can set a reminder in your phone around 2 o’clock in the afternoon to check in with yourself and name 1-3 small wins! This will really boost your joy!!

I hope this blog post serves you well and inspires you to create a routine that allows you to show up the best version of yourselves. Because when we take care of ourselves we can take care of others wholeheartedly!

If you feel this blog post was beneficial please spread the love by sharing it!

Your feedback is always welcome and appreciated. Please share with me your routine that will help support your sense of wellbeing!!!

Have yourself a great week and I look forward to serving you again next week!

Sincerely
