From Anxiety to Ease: How Nourishing My Body Helped Heal My Nervous System
For years, anxiety played a major part of my life! I felt a sense of restlessness both in my mind and in my body with the yearning for a sense of peace! I tried to silence it with partying, alcohol, and marijuana, but those only masked the symptoms. It wasn’t until my first panic attack that I realized I needed a new way forward.
Looking back, I can see that the root of my anxiety was shaped long before adulthood.
My Story: From Surviving to Thriving
Born a twin into a challenging environment, my early childhood was shaped by instability and emotional turmoil. With my parents facing mental health struggles and unable to care for us, we were placed in foster care. Visits with them were infrequent and often toxic, adding to the emotional strain. These early experiences kept my nervous system trapped in a constant state of survival.
In my twenties, I coped with my anxiety by self-medicating with substances until my body had enough. After six years on anti-anxiety medication, I knew true healing had to come from within.
The Turning Point: Healing Through Nourishment and Mindfulness
In my early thirties, I began shifting my lifestyle. I cleaned up my diet, began training for a half marathon, and immersed myself in personal growth. The real breakthrough came when I embraced a holistic approach by nourishing my body with the right foods and calming my nervous system with mindfulness practices and self-care.
Which led me down the path of becoming a certified health coach and studied the true connection between nutrition, the nervous system, and gut health. This deep understanding allowed me to design a path for lasting healing! One that supports the nervous system
