I became extremely passionate about this topic once I’ve experienced the amazing transformation in my own physical and mental health!!!
For those of you who aren’t super familiar with my story, here’s a little bit of a bird’s eye view of how I became an extremely passionate health coach!
Approx. 10 years ago, I decided to take charge of my own health and wellbeing after suffering from ongoing anxiety, to a point where I needed to be medicated for 6 years!
After seeing my own best friend heal her own depression with quality wholefoods, working out every day, and developing a positive mindset! I was confident I can do the same with my anxiety, without being on anti-depressants.
Long story short, it took a whole year of eating clean, and working on my own personal growth and self-development before I completely weaned off the medication and suffer from little to no anxiety! In fact, the only time I feel anxious is when I neglect to take care of myself! It just goes to show you how powerful nutrition, exercising and a positive mindset can do to your physical and mental health!
What I’ve come to learn is that food is medicine and training your mind and body consistently, is key to health and wellbeing!
For example: Healing our gut = Healing or mind! Once I’ve learned how you can heal your mind by healing your gut, I researched and implemented everything that I learned, and I can honestly say it made a significant difference in my mental health and vitality!
This is why I want to share with you 3 important tips when it comes to taking care of your health and wellbeing!
#1 Take care of your GUT!!!!
We are made up of 30 trillion cells and 39 trillion bacterial cells, which means we’re more bacteria than we are cells! A major portion of those bacterial cells lies in our gut. Plus, 70% of our central nervous system and our immune system lies in our gut so it is vital that we take great care of our gut!
The best way you can heal your gut is by eliminating the triggering foods such as; Dairy, Wheat, Sugar, Pesticides, and GMO Foods.
Then, you would add Probiotic foods which help create good bacteria inside your gut. Probiotic foods are fermented foods like sauerkraut, pickles, miso, etc..
Next, you would add prebiotic foods that feed the good bacteria. Prebiotic foods like asparagus, leeks, sweet potatoes, etc…
#2 Move your Body
Physical activity is great for your physical health, but did you know it’s extremely great for your mental health? We all know that 30 minutes of physical activity every single day, helps with weight loss, circulation, and getting in shape. But did you know that physical activity, helps reduce stress and anxiety and lowers depression? That’s because when we workout, our brain releases endorphin and dopamine which are happy chemicals that make us feel amazing!
It also increases our oxygen levels which allows us to think clearer and enhances our decision-making abilities!
Just be sure when it comes to physical activity, that you should something that you enjoy, otherwise it becomes a chore and it’s not sustainable! Physical activity can be a nature walk, yoga, dancing, weight training, running, etc…
#3 Take care of your mindset!
If you’ve been following me for some time now, you’ve already heard me say “you can eat all the kale you want in the world, but if you don’t take care of your mindset, doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re ahead when it comes to being healthy!!”
Developing a mindfulness practice where you can work on your personal growth and self-development is a major key component when it comes to your health and wellness!
One thing I’ve learned is you become who or what you expose yourself to, therefore if you continue to work on developing a positive mindset, you will be well on your way to a healthier and happier you!
