Hi everyone,

How are you? My name is Nancy Pitre and I’m your Certified Holistic Health Coach tuning in once again.

Today’s blog post is about the powerful benefits of meditation. I started meditating 5 years ago and let me tell you, it makes the world of a difference when it comes to reducing my anxiety. I was introduced to meditation with the 21 day meditation challenge by Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey. After completing the 21 day meditation challenge, I was amazed how good I felt so I just made it part of my morning routine ever since.

If there’s one gift you can give yourself, give yourself the gift of a 10 minutes meditation practice each day!. Your mind and body will thank you for it!

Meditation can be done at any given time throughout your day whenever you feel overwhelmed or stressed. It's something that's always available for you, you just got to make the time to nourish yourself whenever you need it!

There's many health + wellness benefits when it comes to meditating such as;

-Creating more space inside your mind

-Experiencing deeper awareness

-Reducing stress

-Increasing energy

-Fostering creativity

-Improving memory

-Reducing depression/anxiety

 -Reduce inflammation in your body

-Strengthen your immune system

-Reducing muscle tension

Just to name a few...

There are many types of meditation, but the key is to keep it simple, especially if you’ve never meditated before. Start your meditation practice by breathing deeply through your stomach and focus on extending your exhale. Extending your exhale calms the nerves by activating the parasympathetic response (rest and digest response) and your alpha state (relaxed awareness) state.

Whenever you're distracted by your thoughts, noises in your environment or physical sensations, simply bring your attention and focus to your slow deep breaths

Some people love to add a mantra, which is essentially a silent powerful positive affirmation.

For example; I like to say SO, which means I on the inhale and Hum, which means am on the exhale all while having a centering thought such as I am abundance, I am worthy, I am grateful, etc...

It’s important to be patient with meditation as your thoughts will wonder, in fact, the more your thoughts wonder, the more you need a meditation practice to help ou feel centre.

The beauty of meditation is the more you meditate, the less your thoughts wonder and the more you experience the benefits of meditation.

You can start your meditation practice by downloading one of my favorite App called HeadSpace or download the guided meditation piece from iTunes (Aum Gam Ganamataye Namaha - Kuvalaya)

Hope this blog post serves you well my friends
