My favorite supplement kit to boost your immune system and stay healthy during the holidays!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I hope you’re doing well!

I hear so many people are getting sick with either the Flu, a Cold or even Pneumonia which is super unfortunate!  That’s why I want to share with you my favorite supplement kit that has kept me healthy. (Knock on wood) LOL

One of the best ways to fight any viruses is to boost the immune system, lower inflammation and open the channels of detoxification. This will help reduce the burden on the body and avoid getting sick during the holidays!

My 6 favorite supplements are:

1. Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): A water soluble vitamin to help reduce the viral load and boost the immune system.

Suggested Use: 2 capsules (1000mg)/day

Potential risk: Vitamin C supplementation is contraindicated in blood disorders such as thalassemia, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, sickle cell disease, and hemochromatosis. Vitamin C should be used cautiously  in oxalate nephropathy or nephrolithiasis, as acidification by ascorbic acid increases the chances of precipitation of cysteine, urate, and oxalate stones, particularly in men

2. Vitamin D3, K2: a fat soluble vitamin that works synergistically together to enhance bone health, improve overall mental wellbeing and support immune function.

Suggested Use: 1 softgel/day

Potential risk: It's important to consult with a healthcare provider before taking high doses of these vitamins, especially if you're on medications (e.g., blood thinners like warfarin) that might interact with Vitamin K.

3. Quercetin: is a bioflavonoid found in onions, apples, black tea, and grapefruit. Quercetin is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound with a wide range of health benefits. From supporting heart health, boosting immune function, and improving brain health to reducing allergy symptoms and supporting exercise performance

Suggested Use: 1 Capsule/day

Potential risk: High doses (over 1,000 mg per day) may cause mild gastrointestinal upset, such as nausea or headache. Quercetin may interact with medications, particularly blood thinners, antibiotics, and chemotherapy drugs. It may also interfere with the absorption of certain drugs, so it’s important to consult with a healthcare provider if you’re on medications.

4. N-Acetyl - L - Cysteine: An amino acid and a precursor to glutathione (master antioxidant) to help the liver process metabolic wastes from the viral load. It supports antioxidant activity, immune function, respiratory health, liver detoxification, mental health, and cardiovascular health.

Suggested Use: 1 Cap/day

Potential Risk: high doses may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach cramps.

NAC may interact with certain medications, including nitroglycerin (which can enhance its effects and cause a headache) and certain chemotherapy drugs. It may also interact with cough medications and blood thinners.

It is important to consult with a healthcare provider before using NAC during pregnancy or while breastfeeding,

5. Zinc Bi-glycinate: The most bioavailable form of zinc and the gentlest on the stomach. Zinc Bi-glycinate supports immune function and immune defense to help reduce the duration and severity of colds and flus

Suggested Use: 1 cap/day with food and away from other supplements

Potential risk: Excessive zinc intake can lead to toxicity, with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and impaired immune function.

6. Turmeric: Particularly its active compound curcumin offers a wide range of health benefits including anti-inflammatory and antioxidants, aid in digestion.

Suggested Use: 1 cap/twice per day

Potential risk: While turmeric is generally safe for most people when used in food amounts, high doses of curcumin may cause gastrointestinal discomfort (like stomach cramps or nausea), particularly if taken on an empty stomach. It is important to follow recommended dosages and consult with a healthcare provider if you are taking any medications or have existing health conditions.
