Victim VS Warrior Mentality

Hi Everybody

My name is Nancy Pitre and I'm your health coach tuning in once again to provide you with tips and tools that you can use to help facilitate your own journey towards health and wellness.

As I sit here reading my file. I can't help but feel super grateful for the life I have today!

I mean, I could have easily followed in my parent’s footsteps and let my physical and mental health deteriorate but instead, I was presented with the opportunity to take better care of myself.

Unfortunately, they didn't have the knowledge, wisdom, and tools they needed to manage their stress, and over time the pain and hardship were too much to bare.

My father was a well respected teacher but unfortunately, the stress and the pressure got the best of him and he ended up hitting one of his students. This, of course cost him his job. My father was without work for 1 year and a half before he ended up on welfare.

My father had trouble selling his home therefore it didn't take long before the debts were pilling up and to make matters worse, he lost his license for drinking and driving. In the midst of all of what was going on, my mother got pregnant with my twin sister and I. That was enough to drive both my parents over the edge where they couldn't cope with the thought of taking care of a baby, especially twins. Although they tried numerous times with great help from the social services, their mental health and excessive drinking got the best of them.

I mean that is a classic example of victim vs warrior. Because everyone has a story! I mean I remember a couples years ago how much we were struggling financially because we had bought a duplex that ended up being a money pit. I strongly believe that if it wasn't for my mindfulness practice, the intense stress and anxiety would have easily gotten the best of me!

What I learned very early on in my own journey towards health and wellness is that you must ask yourself these questions; "How is this happening for me?" "What are the lessons I need to learn?" "What can I be grateful for in this moment?" Because what I know for sure is the moment we fall victim to life's hardships, it makes it 10x worse.

Once we can shift our mindset to "this is happening for me and not to me", everything changes for the better. Once I got that, I made sure to learn the lessons that I needed to learn, and most importantly, continue to work on my personal growth and self-development. It was vital for me to increase my knowledge, wisdom, and tools to create a better life for myself and pay it forward somehow!

So the next time you're going through difficult seasons, whether it's internally or externally, kindly ask yourself "How is this happening for me?" "What are the lessons I need to learn?" "What can I be grateful for at this moment?"

I guarantee you, if you ask yourself these empowering questions, you will get empowering answers. They might not come right away, especially if you're in the middle of the storm but the more you allow yourself to reflect on these questions, the more you'll develop a warrior-like mentality.

I hope this message serves you well! If you feel like anybody would benefit from this message, feel free to spread the love by sharing this blog post!

Until next time remember, keep progressing on your own journey towards health and wellness!

Cheers
