3 simple practices to improve digestion
Happy Solar Eclipse Everyone!!!!
I hope you are all super excited to be part of such an historical moment! It is one thing to witness a solar eclipse but to experience a total solar eclipse is such an amazing phenomena! A total solar eclipse is when the moon covers all of the sun which we may experience total darkness for a few minutes. They say the whole process may take up to 4 hours.
Just remember to grab a pair of certified eclipse glasses to safely watch the eclipse otherwise you may experience eye damage.
Aside from this extraordinary event, I’d like to share with you 3 simple practices you can do to improve digestion. As you know, gut health is the foundation to whole body health.
It’s not only what you eat that determines your quality of health but how you eat plays a huge role in Gut Health!
Keep water intake to a minimum when eating meals. Drinking water can cool down the Hydrochloric Acid (stomach acid) in your stomach. This is the first line of defense against food-born pathogens and the breaking down of foods.
The entire digestive process starts in the mouth which is why you must chew your foods at least 32 times.. The more you chew your food, the more digestive enzymes you’re producing to help break down the food.
Eating in a calm state helps with digestion. Avoid eating on the go or rush eating as it creates a stress response. When you have a stress response, your body goes into fight or flight vs rest & digest. Which makes it harder to digest your food.
There’s something to be said when taking the time to sit down and eat a delicious meal. My family and I love to bless our food at dinner time. This mindfulness practice helps us to be grateful for what we have which puts us in a state of love vs stress. This simple, yet powerful act helps us digest our foods and stay connected to each other.
I invite you to pick 1 meal a day and apply these 3 simple practices and notice how good it makes you feel! It’s also a wonderful way to bring more joy in your life!
